The VIII Annual Inter School Athletic Festival was held on 17 August 2010 in the sprawling sports ground of the Good Shepherd International School, Palada Campus. The meet was inaugurated by Mr.B K Aldrige, Headmaster, Riverside Public School, Kotagiri.
The Athletic Festival commenced with the 13 participating schools doing a smart march past led by the GSIS School Captain Anish Polavarapu. A 93 member Brass Band of GSIS, led by Akhil Anand Kanoi and a 67 member Pipe Band of GSIS, led by Benita Shebany, Sathida Kingpikul and Awleen Chawla added to the colour, pomp and majesty of the march past.
The Athletics Torch Run was next with outstanding athletes of all the participating schools running a torch relay around the 400 metre track and culminating in lighting the flame on top of the stadium fort.
The event comprised of different competitions in track and field events including sprints, relay, long jump, high jump, shot put and discuss throw.
The athletes were divided into groups of Under 10, Under 12, Under 14, Under 16, and Under 18 and this encouraged wide participation amongst boys and girls.
The victorious athletes were awarded certificates. The grand finale of the event was the dance performance by GSIS students.
The Athletic Festival was declared closed by the Chief Guest. This was followed by the national anthem played by the GSIS band.
