Onam is a festival celebrated in the
state of Kerala, India. There are some stories associated with it, yet in the
past it signified a period after harvest when food grains were in plenty and
the household gardens had plenty of vegetables and flowers.
The keynote of the festival was the
preparation of a grand lunch( vegetarian only) with all the available
vegetables. Everybody dressed in new clothes and decorated the entrance/
courtyard of the homes with flower motifs.
At Good Shepherd International School
the school community joined the students and staff of Kerala in this
celebration. The dining halls on the Fernhill and Palada Campus had elaborate
flower carpets. A sumptuous traditional lunch was served.
All in all, it was a Happy Day!
Onam is one of the best known festival of the Kerala. I love to hear and see about the Kerala. It is the best place which all the tourist prefer to visit during the days of the holidays. This place is most suitable for the newly married couples to celebrate the honeymoon in the most romantic way.
