Good Shepherd International School organized ‘Pro H2O’
an Awareness Campaign on 25 August, 2016 at the Fernhill Campus to spread
awareness among the local population about the importance of conserving water. The events
included a poetry recitation by the tiny tots of grades 1 and 2, dressed as
water droplets. This was followed by a Tamil skit and poetry recitation in
order to educate the local people on the dire need for water conservation, not
only in the Nilgiris areas, but all over the country. Mrs. Sheila
Alexander Senior Vice Principal,
Academics, and Brig. S. Suresh Kumar VSM (Retd), Senior Vice Principal,
Administration were the guests of honour.
“You don’t need motivation” said Mrs. Sheila Alexander, “the enthusiasm
that you all have has actually motivated us. This shows
that you all are the true future of our country”.
The highlight of
the ‘Pro H2O’ day was the rally around the locality, which was
flagged off by Mrs. Sheila Alexander and Brig. S. Suresh Kumar VSM (Retd). The students, clad in captioned bandanas
along with all staff members walked with placards and posters to inspire people
to save water. These charts and placards were beautifully punctuated by the
students fervently shouting slogans such as “Water water everywhere, Try to
save it, if you care!” and “Save Water, Save Lives!” “The interest and
enthusiasm shown by the students was inspiring.” said one of the teachers who
assisted the children in organizing the day. The children made and distributed
bookmarks to reinforce this important message. This attempt has been well
received by the public who witnessed the procession; after all, it is the tiny
drops of water that make a mighty ocean!
