I like the man who faces what he must with a heart of cheer, who fights the daily battle without fear, sees his hopes fail, yet keeps unfaltering trust that God is God.....

THE DEEPER YOUR RELATIONSHIP, THE STRONGER YOUR LEADERSHIP.

It is indeed my pleasure to extend a hearty welcome to our dearest Principal Dr. P. C. Thomas, VicePrincipal Administration Col. Mohan Mathew, Vice President Ms. Julie Pradeesh, Coordinator Ms. Elizabeth Koshy, Teachers and my dear friends.

I feel that the ‘Leadership’, the topic that I’ve chosen for the day is ideal.

The famous French hero Napoleon Bonaparte was laughed at when he joined the military school because he was short and had a different accent. Napoleon, who knew that soldiers do not cry, put on a brave face and buried his head in his books. At the age of 15 he became an officer in French army. I’m inspired a lot by this life story of Napoleon.

To be a great leader, you need to be a great person.

What is the characteristic that is true in all leaders?

Is it being tall?

Being charismatic?

Having a commanding presence?

Being action oriented?

Or just being honest and ethical?

IT IS NONE OF THESE.

To be a leader you must demonstrate some form of excellence.

To succeed, everyone must see themselves as a part of the leadership team. You don’t need a formal authority to lead – only a desire to be involved and the commitment to making a positive difference.

I remember Mother Teresa’s quote:

“If everyone would sweep their own doorstep, the whole world would be clean.”

So for each one of us to show leadership we need to start by being truly excellent in our current role.

We all have an inner leader inside us longing to break free. We all have a natural power to lead that has nothing to do with how old we are or where we live. Anyone anywhere in the world can step out and take responsibility to drive change, push excellence and show leadership.

“RAISE YOUR BAR” – I have learnt this from a great leader who I admire a lot......He is none other than our dear principal.

Sir, you are a great inspiration to all of us. It would of great help to us if you could give us some valuable tips on becoming a good leader so as to make our life worth living.

Before concluding my speech, I would like to share this poem ‘The Optimist’s Creed’

To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.

To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.

To make all your friends feel that there is something in them.

To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true

To think only the best, to work only for the best and expect only the best

To be just an enthusiastic about success of others as you are about your own.

To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.

To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.

To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.

To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.

Promise yourself these things.

FASHION SHOW – 2011

“Give us a Girl, take home a Lady”. In consonance with the aforesaid byline, the students of Good Shepherd Finishing School styled contemporary clothes, which they displayed in a fashion show in April 2011 at the School Auditorium. This event was held to enable the young ladies understand the weft and warp, the colour and feel of different fabrics. They were encouraged to explore ideas and create designs of clothing which suited them.
