INTER – HOUSE DEBATE COMPETITION - COCK HOUSE YEAR 2009 -2010

An exciting series of debates were held in the month of August for students of Class VIII, IX, X & XII on a wide range of topics. Given below is the information on the prize winners and the topics handled by the participants in each category.

CATEGORY – A (CLASS VIII)

ANJALI SABU NAIR of Winter House was awarded the First prize. The topic – Can India field a football team in the FIFA World Cup in the near future? Yes or No?





SIDDHARTH A NAMBIAR of Summer House was awarded the Second prize. The topic – Despite the advancement in science, mankind is still unable to contain epidemics and their psychological influences. Agree or Disagree?


TARUN THAKRAL of Autumn House was awarded the Third prize. The topic – Man is still not equipped to tackle impending natural disasters and emergencies. Agree or Disagree?



CATEGORY – B (CLASS IX)

RAYHAN DONGRE of Winter House was awarded the First prize. The topic – Is the media distorting the perceptions of the present generation? Yes or No?




YASH SANJAY GOGRI of Summer House was awarded the Second prize. The topic – Education is a primary need besides food, health and clothing. Do you agree with this statement?




SAYANTAN SAHA of Spring House was awarded the Third prize. The topic – Are bio-fuels a better alternative to fossil fuels? Should their usage be encouraged by government regulations and subsidy. Agree or Disagree?



CATEGORY – C (CLASS X)

TANSHI AGARWAL of Winter House was awarded the First prize. The topic – Is India ready to host the Commonwealth Games in October 2010? Yes or No?






AWLEEN CHAWLA of Autumn House was awarded the Second prize. The topic – Thanks to social networking, face to face interaction is on the decline. Agree or Disagree?



B VIGNESH of Summer House was awarded the Third prize. The topic – Mathematics should be made compulsory till Grade 12. Do you agree or do you not agree with the idea?






CATEGORY – D (CLASS XII)

HIMANI KRISHANVIR NAGRATH of Autumn House was awarded the First prize. The topic – Reality shows on television around the world have a negative impact on the human psyche. Hence these shows should be banned. Agree or Disagree?







SHUBHANG BHATTACHARYA of Winter House was awarded the Second prize. The topic – Do you think that international boards of school education are breeding different classes of citizens within the same country?




AKASH AGRAWAL of Autumn House was awarded the Third prize. The topic – Reality shows on television around the world have a negative impact on the human psyche. Hence these shows should be banned. Agree or Disagree?


INSTALLATION OF THE INTERACT CLUB MEMBERS – 2010-2011















The Installation Ceremony of the Interact Club of Good Shepherd International School and the Rotaract Club of Good Shepherd Finishing School was held on 19 August 2010. The Chief Guest was Dr.Gee Gee George - President, Rotary Club of Nilgiris West.

Among the others present were Rtn.Sreedharan.D, Secretary- Rotary Club of Nilgiris West, Rtn.Mrs. Elsamma Thomas, Charter President – Rotary Club of Nilgiris West, Rtn.Ramasubramaniam, the students of Std 9 and 11 of Good Shepherd International School and the students of Good Shepherd Finishing School.

The ceremony began with the procession of the outgoing and incoming office bearers of both the clubs. The meeting was called to order by Interact President Atulit Kejariwal following the collaring of the Interact President by Ujjwal Kamalia. The annual report of the Interact Club was read by the Secretary, Shrivastava Kajol Shishir and that of the Rotaract activities by Ms.Pragya Goenka. The Presidents of both Interact Club and Rotaract Club were introduced by Sneha Tarway, Director of International Service Interact Club and Ms.Kishleen Kaur Anand respectively.

The outgoing President Atulit Kejariwal installed the incoming President Yashwardhan Banthia. The Interact President Yashwardhan Banthia, in his speech accepted the post, and he in turn inducted his team of office bearers.

The joint oath taking of the office bearers and members of both the Interact and Rotaract members was led by the Interact President Yashwardhan Banthia.

The Presidents of both the clubs Interact & Rotaract were then felicitated by Rtn.Mrs. Elsamma Thomas, Charter President – Rotary Club of Nilgiris West, Rtn. Sreedharan.D, Secretary, Rotary Club of Nilgiris West, Rtn.Ramasubramaniam and Mrs. Tulsi Bhatia, Dean, Good Shepherd Finishing School.
