RESULTS OF THE NILGIRIS DISTRICT SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIP

The Nilgiris District Swimming Championship was held on 20 November, 2010 at Kotagiri Public School under the aegis of The Nilgiris District Aquatic Association.

GSIS WON 24 FIRST PLACES OUT OF 32 EVENTS

Children’s Day Celebrations – 14 November 2010

Children’s Day was celebrated on 14 November 2010 in a grand manner at Good Shepherd International School. The events commenced with the School Assembly in which the faculty did everything which the students normally do. The highlight of this session was a slide collage put together with a popular song playing in the background. All the students were truly delighted.







The celebrations continued. The venue shifted to the stadium in which the faculty had put up numerous games stalls and food counters. The children were thrilled and there was laughter and gaiety all around. The weather was also pleasant with bright sunshine adding to the nip in the air.

Students of Good Shepherd International School participated in the 36th Tamil Nadu Sate Rifle Shooting Championship which was held from 27th to 31st October 2010 at P.R.S. Ground, Coimbatore Rifle Club, Coimbatore.

GOOD SHEPHERD INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL MODEL UNITED NATIONS – 27 OCTOBER 2010

Students of Std. IX to XII came together and conducted a Mock-up session of the United Nations General Assembly and other Council meetings on 27 October, 2010.





This event was held in the Palada Campus Auditorium. The students simulated the actual proceedings of the General Assembly and other Councils of the United Nations.







The Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), the Economic and Financial Affairs Council (ECOFIN), the Human Rights Commission (HRC) and the General Assembly were effectively presented.






Selected students performed the roles of Heads of nations and Delegates of countries. The students researched elaborately and participated in debates on the following subjects:




a) Controlling and Eliminating terrorist funding (EcoSoC)

b) Tackling the volatility of oil prices(EcoSoC)

c) Measures to increase the cost-effectiveness of renewable sources of energy and other technologies to reduce environment degradation(EcoSoC)


a) Women’s rights (HRC)

b) Rights of prisoners (HRC)

c) Overpopulation (HRC)



a) Water Conflict (EcoFin)

b) Measures to combat the production and trade of illegal narcotic drugs(EcoFin)

c) Sustainable development in Africa (EcoFin)






The Chief Guest for the function was Mr. C V Ranganathan, former Ambassador to China, France and Ethiopia. He lauded the participating students and the staff on the quality of subject research, the participation in debates and the overall sense of concern about global affairs.
