'Walkathon' by Good Shepherd Finishing School Students

The students of Good Shepherd Finishing School organized a WALKATHON (a peaceful march) on Friday, March 18, 2011.

This was to create awareness about protecting the fragile environment of the Nilgiris District. The Walkathon commenced from the Ootacamund Botanical Garden and finished at the Fernhill Campus of Good Shepherd International School.

All students and staff of the Good Shepherd Finishing School and about 100 students and teachers of and Good Shepherd International School participated.

They walked along the route Botanical Garden – Charring cross junction – Bus Stand – Boat House road – Fernhill Campus, Good Shepherd International School.

The Walkhathon was flagged off by the Secretary, Rotary club of Nilgiris West, Mr. D.Sreedharan.

The students carried placards with messages exhorting the need to protect environment. They also distributed cloth bags to the public along the route. The students and the public were sensitized to protect the fragile environment of the Nilgiris.
