Astronauts in the making - NASA Space Camp, Huntsville, US

For the fourth time in a row, the Shepherdians were given a chance to expand their horizons by a visit to the United States of America, the states of Florida, Georgia and Alabama, to be precise, experiencing an interesting mix of work and play, enjoying the treat of the theme parks of Florida, covering Busch Garden, Sea World, Universal Studios, Island of Adventure and learning and working at the NASA Space and Rocket Center at Huntsville, Alabama, spread over a period of two weeks. The best halt was at Decatur, the house of Rotarian Mr Mark Maloney, where the group was greeted by pizzas, soft drinks and ice-creams and plenty of friends and exchange of gifts. At the space camp the children were able to rub shoulders with the famous astronaut, Story Musgrave, a visitor to space six times, who was the chief guest at the graduation ceremony of the summer camp. Shepherdians brought back plenty of prizes. Besides, each brought back his or her own share of memories, of either commanding or piloting a mission or experiencing a simulation or getting soaked in a roller coaster ride that splashes into water.
